Pecan Pie Bars

These Pecan Pie Bars are so easy to make. No pie dough to make and roll out, no fuss over how they look. Just two simple steps.

Not only were these simple to make but everyone loved them, young and old. They make the perfect Christmas “cookie” to add to your list.


Ingredients:

2 cups all-purpose flour

2/3 cup powdered sugar

3/4 cup softened butter

1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar

1/2 cup honey

2/3 cup butter

3 Tablespoons heavy whipping cream

3 1/2 cups coarsest chopped pecans


Directions

Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 13x9-inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter.


To make the crust:

Sift together 2 cups flour and 2/3 cup powdered sugar. Cut in 3/4 cup softened butter with a pastry blender or put it all in a food processor and pulse a few times. The mixture should resemble coarse meal.

Press the mixture into the baking dish, making sure the sides come up an inch or so.

Bake the crust for for 20 minutes or until edges slightly brown.

Let the crust cool while you prepare the filling.


To make the filling:

Bring brown sugar, honey, 2/3 cup butter and whipping cream to a boil in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in pecans.

Pour hot filling into the prepared crust.


Bake at 350°F for 20-30 minutes or until golden and bubbly.

Let cool completely before cutting into 2-inch squares.
